Damián Maffioletti-Arratia is a PhD student in public policy at the University of Maryland. He holds a BA in social science and a master’s in urban development from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Before joining UMD, he worked as a research assistant at the School of Government and the Institute of Urban and Territorial Studies at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He has also worked as Territorial Research Coordinator at Techo-Chile NGO and as an urban planner at the Universidad Alberto Hurtado. He has contributed to research on land use regulation, the build-to-rent market and housing inequality.
Maffioletti-Arratia’s research interests include urban land use regulation, housing policy and affordability. He is particularly focused on the role of land use planning in shaping access to affordable and secure housing, with attention to how these policies are implemented in practice. He is also interested in how housing financialization affects housing accessibility.
